This composition began as a model for a life size bull moose sculpture. It quickly took on an importance of its own with the addition of the pond. The observer of moose knows that they are frequenters of water where lush aquatic growth is cropped to furnish energy and nutrition to this largest member of the deer family.

This was the first fountain I developed and its challenges were interesting. The articulation of animal form, the encompassing scene, and the flow of water had to be coordinated without detracting from the artistic composition. In a way I was just “browsin” through the possibilities.
