Mouse

If there is a tactical advantage in leaping above prey and descending upon it vertically it escapes my puny reasoning. Yet it happens and I have had the good fortune of seeing it occur three times. For the mouse, it will be a bad experience even with an escape … and this view does leave that possibility. Consider the fox, however. A master hunter, he is marvelously equipped to subsist on insects and plants if needed. Perhaps this is a joyful leap, filled with an instant ecstasy at the possibility at hand.
