Fresh Out

  1. bust of a girl with butterfly in her hair

Among my works to date waterfowl is the dominant subject. While this may not always be, I’ll always come back.

This sculpture developed from an observation in shows and galleries: there were few, if any, ducklings. It is hard to imagine a warmer, fuzzier, more attractive infant in the bird world. The duckling emerges and within a few days is swimming, foraging, and following ”mom”. They are precocious ... they are ready. Some, like Wood Ducks, leap from dizzying heights far in advance of fledging.

I felt the need to shape one three-dimensionally. Ready? Here’s “Fresh Out”
